The Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department is planning on holding their Independence Day fireworks show on Monday, July 4, according to Chief Mark Collins. The show will start just after it becomes dark. The show should last between 15 to 25 minutes and they will shoot off from atop T-Hill. Darrell Eugene Sigman was born in Sturgis, S.D., on November 18, 1929 to Charles Thomas and Berlha Mae Pfeiffer Sigman. He grew up in Sturgis and went to work in the logging industry as a logging truck driver. He met his wife, Dorothy Rader, at a dance in Hulett, Wyo. On March 18, 1950 they were wed in Sturgis, S.D. At the June 15 Hot Springs County Travel and Tourism meeting held at the Quality Inn, Treasurer Audra Dominguez presented the financial report and said that for the month of May the lodging tax revenue collected was $16,259.73 which is an 8% increase compared to the previous year in the same month. A cookie jar auction fundraiser will be held Saturday, July 9 for Jessica Power and her preemie twins, Kimber and Colt. It will begin at 6 p.m. at the HSC Fair Building. In mid April, Jessica’s blood pressure spiked and after being transported to a Billings hospital the twins were born via c-section on April 16. Colt weighed 1 lb., 7 oz. and Kimber weighed 1 lb., 10 oz. Funds will go to the family who will have many doctors appointments and travel expenses. Jessica is an eighth grade teacher.
