The 2023 Hot Spot Car Rally hit town last weekend filling town with amazing vehicles of all types. The Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous PRCA Rodeo is coming to town Friday and Saturday night offering up top cowboys and cowgirls along with award-winning stock. Things kick off Friday at 9 a.m. with free admission to rodeo slack performances at Hot Springs County Fairgrounds. Hot Springs County High School graduate Emme Norsworthy shined at her first College National Finals Rodeo placing fifth in the nation in the barrel racing, representing the University of Wyoming (UW). Her four-run total time was 56.97 seconds. Norsworthy placed eighth in the first go with a time of 14.35. A rainy and cold start to the 2023 Annual Hot Springs County 4-H Shooting Sports Camp did not stop all the participants from having fun. The saloon will be open at the Hot Springs County Museum for three days only during the PRCA rodeo the last weekend in June. Shasta Shafer of the Alumni Association for the All Class Reunion reported they plan to hold a social event at the VFW on Saturday, July 15 at 8 p.m. There will not be a dinner at the VFW but drinks will be sold. Martin "Marty" William Connolly, 83, of Laramie, formerly of Thermopolis passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. He was born January 25, 1940, to Michael and Bernadette (nee Kane) Connolly in St. Paul, Minn. Marty grew up in St. Paul with his two brothers, Michael "Micky" and Jerome "Jerry". Richard Lee Beltz, 85, died Sunday, June 11, 2023, at his residence in Hot Springs County, Wyo., after a period of declining health. One of four children, Rick was born January 15, 1938, in Elgin, Ill., the son of Eugene and Helen (Peters) Beltz. Enlisting in the Air Force in 1961, Rick served twenty-one years.
