    The Thermopolis Gun Club is sponsoring a Bowling Pin Shoot Sunday, June 14 at the Bob Milek Gun Range northwest of town from 1-3 p.m. Cost is $5 per event per shooter, who is part of a six-person squad. Gun raffle tickets will be awarded to the top shooters. This is a center fire handgun match, with two divisions – revolver and semiautomatic.     There is summer reading fun available for adults and children alike at the Hot Springs County Library. For the adults, the theme this summer is “Escape the Ordinary,” with an emphasis on heroes. The idea behind this year’s theme is to recognize heroes in all their forms and challenge your idea of what a hero may be. “Bam! Pow! Read! Every Hero has a Story” is the theme for the children’s summer program, which runs now through July 17. Children in first grade through fifth grade may participate...

    County Assessor, Shelley Deromedi, has released updated estimates on the values of Hot Springs County. Final figures will not be available until next week after the final hearing of assessment. Deromedi figures the current local assessment at $50,592,682, but the final figure will not be available until June 15. Final assessment on state assessed utilities is $5,783,687. Other final figures include hard minerals in the county at $3,666,132, oil production during 2014 at $167,162,982 and gas...

  • 4th of July Freedom Run

    The Big Horn Basin Riders are planning another great 4th of July Freedom Run in Thermopolis and Hot Springs County with fun for everyone. Things kick off Friday, July 3rd with a meet and greet at the armory at 6 p.m.. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the music, drinks and bonfire scheduled for that evening.     The first home in the Crimson View subdivision was placed on Monday via a crane from JMS Crane and Rigging out of Billings. The home was brought to Thermopolis in three pieces on semi trucks, then each piece was carefully lifted from the truck and placed on the full-basement foundation and secured in place. The new subdivision, owned by Scott Miller and Rob Schmidt, was approved by the Hot Springs County Commissioners less than a year ago, and can be found behind the Lutheran Church on Highway...

    Everyone loves a parade! The first parade of the summer will be for the Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous Rodeo on Saturday, June 27. The parade begins at 10 a.m. with line-up starting at 9:30 at 5th Street and Shoshoni. They will travel down 6th Street to the stop light, turn right on Broadway and finish up in front of the VFW.
