Over the Memorial Day weekend, the parking lot at Hot Springs County High School was a place to be for the Hot City Summer Slam 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Though Thermopolis has hosted the tournament a number of years, 2016 marks the first time it was headed up by the Bobcat Boosters. Main Street Thermopolis board members Howie Samelson and Suzanne Samelson attended the Main Street Now national conference May 23-25 in Miliwaukee, Wis. Get ready for the Running with the Buffalo race set for Saturday, June 11. Participants will start on the street outside the TePee Pool and runners will trek through the buffalo pasture and back towards the start. There will be both a 4K run/walk and an 8K run, making it possible for people of all ages to participate. Those who were up early enough Sunday morning might have spied the launch of a hot air balloon from Whitt Field, flown by Cameron Wagner. The balloon traveled for about three hours, coming down at 9:30 a.m. west of the highway to Cody. The balloon launch was set up by Big Horn Basin Foundation Director Jessica Lippincott, who is working on putting together a balloon rally, headed by the foundation, for June 2017.
