    The Hot Springs County School Board approved staffing recommendations at a special meeting on May 18. The Board accepted the retirement notice from Sharon Cordingly as elementary teacher effective at the end of her 2015-16 teaching contract. They also accepted a resignation notice from Jenny Davis as Lights On Project and Program Coordinator effective Aug. 5, 2016.     Wyo. Quarter Horse Ranch held an auction Saturday at the fairgrounds. Horses were sold to 22 different states, with Colorado purchasing the most. Wyoming followed, and then Idaho. The highest selling horse was a gelding from Lot 37 named NickInTheBudget. It sold for $32,000 to an individual from Colorado. The horse belonged to Woody Bartlett.     First grade teacher Sharon Cordingly will be retiring after 37 years in Hot Springs County at the end of the 2015-16 school year. Cordingly grew up in Minnesota and moved to Hot Springs County after graduating college. "I graduated college in December and began my first teaching job in January," Cordingly said.     At the monthly meeting of the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director Meri Ann Rush presented a proposed budget for the fiscal year 2016-17. The fiscal year 2016-17 revenue for the fiscal year is at $167,315, and expenditures come in at $169,126. Also presented was the 2015-16 fiscal year budget, though Rush noted that budget does not yet include figures from May and June.     Eight boys and eight girls from Hot Springs County High School traveled to Casper to compete at the Track and Field State Championships May 19-21. Coach Ernie Mecca commended both teams for making a tremendous effort during the three-day meet. The boys' team won runner up, taking a total 83 points, and made 11 personal records, one state record and two school records.     The Hot City Summer Slam 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament this weekend will take place at the Hot Springs County High School parking lot, with 10 vendors set up at LeRoy Hayes Memorial Stadium.     The Wyoming State Association of Letter Carriers is hosting a Randy Maxwell Memorial MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) Miniature Golf Tournament beginning at 6 p.m. for individuals and 7 p.m. for teams June 2 at Dairyland Putt-Putt.
