    At the May 5 Hot Springs County Land Use Planning Commission held at the Annex building, the commission continued their discussion of the Red Rim Ranch Subdivision application. The application was previously discussed at the April 20 meeting where public comments were given. At this meeting, there were no formal public comments.   • Funds requested for digital sign at fairgrounds

    At the May 3 Thermopolis Town Council meeting held at the Town Hall, Jackie Dorothy from Travel and Tourism presented to the council their joint project of installing a digital sign at the fairgrounds. Dorothy reported that the Tourism Board, the Fair Board, and the Rec Board have raised $70,000 for the $120,000 needed. They still need $50,000.     On the night of May 6, one or more people entered the bentonite mine off of Missouri Flat Road and began tampering with equipment. The suspects ultimately tipped over a portable pumping unit into a pond causing an estimated $30,000 worth of damage. Evidence was collected and sent to the State Crime Lab.     At the May 3 Hot Springs County Commissioners meeting held at the Annex building, Brian Clarkson from T-O Engineers provided an update on the GIS report via speakerphone. Clarkson said they are continuing the mapping of the county road easements and right-of-way descriptions to link to historical documents.     Doug and Jared Nichols of Nichols Construction prepared the window frames of the Masonic Hall for new glass as it undergoes renovations. According to Eric Kay, the grant that paid for the work came from the National Main Street Center, which is a subsidy of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.     Brooks Kaapuni Sing Luke, 85, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, in Uintah, Utah. He was born on February 18, 1937, in Honolulu, Hiawii, to Edward Chin and Tamar Wong Luke. Brooks was the first member of his family to graduate from high school and was top of his class. He joined the Marine Corps in July 1952 and actively pursued advanced military training in his career.     The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) is targeting high blood pressure with a new, free program that includes blood pressure self-monitoring, education and other support.
