All of the maps of Hot Springs County are kept in what are known as plat cabinets in the county clerk’s office for safekeeping. Karen Slocum approached the commissioners at their meeting on Tuesday to let them know the clerk’s office needs a new plat cabinet as all of the others are now full. During an assembly Tuesday afternoon at the high school auditorium, the Wyoming Association of Secondary School Principals (WASSP) recognized Breez Longwell Daniels was as the 2019-20 Wyoming Principal of the Year. After receiving her award Daniels spoke to the assembled high school students. Daniels shared how she graduated from Thermopolis 31 years ago. Raymond William "Monk" DeVries Jr. passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, at Riverstone Hospice in Billings, Mont. Born November 27, 1967, in Cody, Wyo., he was one of three children of Raymond Sr. and Cynthia (Everett) DeVries. In 1971 the family moved to Thermopolis, Wyo., where Monk attended school, graduating in 1986. He attended Casper College graduating with a Diesel Mechanic certificate. Sharon Marie Hansen Stender, age 71, of Colfax Wis., passed away on May 1, 2019, after a 12-year battle with cancer. The Bobcat Golf Team played their fourth tournament for the spring in Cody last Friday, competing against six schools, coming out with a second place finish. Thermopolis was home to the middle school Yellowstone Conference this past Saturday, with several students taking conference championships in their events. Last Friday, Thermopolis hosted the Bobcat Invite track meet, the last regular meet of the season. Coach Aimee Kay noted the weather was somewhat cooperative, and though there were not as many personal records (PRs) as there have been for the Bobcats they still had a few.
