First up is the 2019 Prom, which will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 8-11:30 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Fair building. The students chose “Galaxy” as their theme for this year’s event.     Registration is now open for Start Smart Baseball through the Hot Springs County Rec District. The Start Smart program aims to teach children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized baseball while working one-on-one, spending quality time with their parents. The focus is to teach children and their parents basic sports mechanics without any threat of competition or fear of getting hurt.   • Unemployment rate drops

    Wyoming’s unemployment rates for March were recently released by the Research and Planning section of the Department of Workforce Services showing a statewide fall from 3.9 percent in February to 3.7 percent in March. In Hot Springs County we added 18 more people to the labor force during March, but that is still 86 fewer than March of last year. Six more people were unemployed in March than were in February, but that is still 15 fewer than a year ago.     Hot Springs Vet Clinic will be holding their annual rabies clinic next week, Wednesday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you cannot make it to the clinic on Wednesday or need your pet examined, give them a call at 864-5553 for an appointment and they will get you in at the same fees some time the week of the clinic.     The Bob Milek Range west of Thermopolis was busy last Saturday, for the third annual Young Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC). Cynthia Garbin said this year’s YHEC had 25 participants, age 8-17, from Hot Springs, Washakie and Weston counties. Additionally, there were 20 volunteers and leaders, and plenty of family and friends.
