    by Nicole Pollack Casper Star-Tribune Via Wyoming News Exchange CASPER —The federal government will include one-third fewer Wyoming tracts than anticipated in the first oil and gas lease sale of the Biden presidency — about 28% of the 459 parcels analyzed across the state last fall. A total of 129 offerings “containing about 131,771 acres of public minerals” will be available for leasing in Wyoming on June 21 and 22, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) said Monday. Roughly another 44 parcels will be up for sale in seven other Western states....

  • HSC Senior Center purchases Shopko building

    The Hot Springs County Senior Center director Trenda Moore reported they purchased the Shopko Building in an online auction held Thursday, April 14. Moore said, "It will be the center's new home." The purchase still has yet to close, however, it should in about 30 days. Moore added that they have high expectations with the purchase as they are nearing their 50th anniversary. They have a three to five-year plan before things come full circle.   • Women's volunteer club plans convention

    The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) Wyoming Annual Convention will be held in Thermopolis on April 29-30. GFWC helps communities in areas such as health and wellness, child advocacy, arts and culture and the environment. Last year, GFWC volunteers spent 19,177 hours to complete 240 projects. They also generated enough funds to donate more than $70,000 to communities. There are no strings attached to attend the convention.     Porshia Birdsley recently competed in the Cheyenne Colt Breaker's Strongman competition, which is part of the all-around the world competitive powerlifting. Birdsley took first place in the women's lightweight category of under 165 pounds of body weight. There were eight other girls in her category.
