Monday in Hot Springs District Court, Shawn Goodman Sr. and Melissa Goodman pleaded not guilty to charges against them. The annual Jackalope Jump, a fundraiser for Hot Springs County Special Olympics will be on Friday, April 5. Those willing to brave some chilly waters can jump into a pool on the high school grounds. Registration begins at noon, and is $100 for a single jump or $50 per person on a team of four. Advisor Tom Olsen noted the event is the big fundraiser for the year. The Thermopolis Gymkhana Series will host a fundraiser for its year-end awards on Saturday, April 13, starting at 6 p.m. at the Hot Springs County fair building. Jesse Blane Deacon, 56, passed away March 27, 2019, at his residence in Kirby, Wyo. Born March 26, 1963, in Phoenix, Ariz., he was the son of Walter "Buck" and Anne (Hunt) Deacon. Betty Lori Long, 60, passed away March 31, 2019, at the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Care Center after a two year battle with cancer. Born April 27, 1958, in Long Beach, Calif., she was the daughter of John and Betty (Johnson) Rickman. In 1965 the family moved to Thermopolis where Betty graduated from high school in 1976. The Wyoming National wrestling teams competed at the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) national team duals in Des Moines Iowa over the weekend. Along the way the teams supported by Wyoming wrestling families and friends took a trailer full of supplies to the Omaha relief center to help out with flood-damaged areas in eastern Nebraska. Members of the Hot Springs County High School Spanish Club spent Spring Break on a trip to the Dominican Republic. These trips outside the country are done every two years - the last one being to Peru - and give students a chance to experience another culture while also working on their language skills.
