At the March 7 Thermopolis Town Council meeting held at the Town Hall, during citizen participation, Darren Butcher presented his request to legalize chickens with a packet of proposed code language describing a potential new ordinance. At last Tuesday’s Hot Springs County Commissioners board meeting, Brian Clarkson of Ardurra (formerly T-O Engineers) gave the Geographic Information System (GIS) update. Clarkson said that they have scanned more septic permit documents, processed and uploaded septic permit files from 1982 to 1983 to cloud storage, and added septic permit information to the online GIS database. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will conduct six open-house meetings throughout the Big Horn Basin and one final meeting in Worland to discuss 2023 hunting season proposals for small game, game birds and big game. Hot Springs County High School freshman Lady Cat basketball player Jayssie Owsley as received accolades for the 2022-23 season by being named to the Girls 3A West All Conference post-season awards list. Bobcat Cord Simeral, a senior, was named to the Boys 3A West All Conference post-season awards list. Honors were chosen in a vote by the head coaches. Peggy Faler passed away unexpectedly at her home, March 5, 2023. Peggy was born on a homestead near Buffalo, Wyo., February 23, 1937. She was the 6th child to Edward (Ned) and Leora Hubbard, out of 8 children. The Family moved to Gillette, Wyo., where Peggy graduated from High School. She loved High School Band and played the Trombone. Peggy met the love of her life, William (Bill) N. Faler, on a blind date. Veronica J. Peck, "Dolly", passed away on March 4, 2023, at Butterfly Homes in Billings, Mont., at the age of 81. In spite of years of struggling with poor health, Dolly always had a positive attitude towards life. Dolly was born June 10, 1941, in Reliance, Wyo., to Rosaliea Teresa Cristando Bozner and Joseph Cyril Bozner. She married George Arthur Peck on Sept. 15, 1959, in Aztec, N.M. The Hot Springs County High School Speech and Debate Team brought their successful season to an end with a runner-up finish at the Wyoming Speech and Debate Tournament at Cheyenne East High School on March 9th, 10th, and 11th.
