Adiposse-WYTU, a sub-chapter of the Wyoming Trout Unlimited group, did a clean up of the Bighorn River on Saturday from the Wedding of the Waters to the Kirby Ditch access area. The group had a total of seven boats on the river pulling up all sorts of trash, from old tires to beer cans, 55-gallon drums to lost fishing equipment, enough to nearly fill a dump truck donated by Big Horn Ready Mix. Fourteen Bobcat wrestlers journeyed to Wheatland last Friday with state tournament qualifying on their mind, and nine of them got the task done. “These guys were awesome,” praised Coach Scholl. “Getting nine qualifiers on a primarily sophomore and freshman team, especially at the 3A level with teams like Powell, Douglas, and Worland is an indication that our kids put forth a maximum effort. Friday evening, Thermopolis went up against Rawlins on the road. Coach Kevin Gerber said the Bobcats stayed right with the Outlaws through three quarters, with 11 to Rawlins' 16 in the first. The boys outscored Rawlins in the second quarter, 18-17, and the third, 16-15. However, the final quarter, Gerber said, "kind of got out of our hands a little bit." Rawlins won the fourth, 21-9. The Lady Bobcats had a 58-51 win on the road Friday as they took on the Lady Outlaws in Rawlins. Coach Cory Sova said the girls were down by 10 late in the third quarter, but didn't panic and didn't give up, deciding to work their way through one play at a time. The Hot Springs County High School freshman basketball team will be heading into their conference this weekend at Worland with a couple more wins under their belts, after a close 39-38 win against Greybull on Valentine's Day and a 56-47 win in overtime against Rawlins Friday night. The Thermopolis Middle School wrestlers saw action on the mats at Riverton Saturday during the Spartan Invite. The boys came away with 74.5 team points. Last weekend, the Bobcat Robotics teams Fist Full of Axles and Aluminati travelled to Casper to compete in the Wyoming State Championship. Aluminati was seated in 22nd place, while Fist Full of Axles was seated at 16th. Hot Springs County’s 4-H is gearing up for the 3rd Annual Chili Dinner and Dessert Auction on Saturday, March 11. Everyone is invited to the fairgrounds for a free chili and soup dinner at 6 p.m. and are encouraged to stay for the silent and live auction dessert event to raise funds for the 4-H program. A variety of desserts will be made by 4-H members and their families, so there is sure to be something to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.
