The Hot Springs County Rec Department has started registration for Start Smart Sports, including basketball, soccer and baseball. Registration for basketball runs through Feb. 25. For soccer, the registration ends April 1 and for Baseball, registration needs to be done by May 13. There is a $15 registration fee for all three sports. Robert "Bob" Blacketer, 82, passed away January 31, 2019, at the Thermopolis Rehab and Wellness Center. Bob was born in Kingman, Ind., on August 4, 1936, to David and Mildred Blacketer, the 2nd of 6 children. When he was six, the family moved to Reliance, Wyo., to the coal camp. After graduation, Bob enlisted in the Navy, serving on a tender in the Pacific and trained as a machinist, which was to become his life's work. Jermy Wight, 92, passed away on January 29, 2019, in Yuma, Ariz. Jermy was born in Gebo, Wyo., to Jessie and Mary (Lewendowsky) Wight. He attended much of his schooling in Thermopolis. He had many adventures in his 92 years. He was a distinguished soldier, a mentoring social worker, Boy Scout leader, and a leader of several State of Wyoming departments’ of services. During the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees regular meeting, the board accepted the audit report from Michael Wright. Hospital Chief Financial Officer Shelly Larson noted the audit provides a fair presentation of the hospital’s financial statements. According to the financial highlights of the audit, total assets were $13,860,563 at fiscal year end (FY) 2018.
