The Self Help Center of Hot Springs County held an Open House on Tuesday, January 18. The center is located at 426 Big Horn Street. John Allen Huckman, Jr, 75, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, at Hot Springs Health in Thermopolis following a valiant battle with cancer. Born August 18, 1946, in Hill County, Texas, he was one of four children of John and Daphine (Cleveland) Huckman, Sr. Growing up in Victoria, Texas, he was active in baseball and invited to try out in the minor league but the Vietnam War intervened. Larry D. “Hippy” Howe passed away January 11, 2022, at Hot Springs Health after a lengthy illness. He was born June 25, 1950, to Lucille Shoopman and Merle Howe in Thermopolis, Wyo. Larry was living at the Wyoming Pioneer Home prior to his passing. He referred to the WPH as his home and thought highly of the staff that worked there. Larry worked for a short period of time on drilling rigs. He enjoyed sharing stories with his coffee shop friends. The majority of his time was spent driving the streets of Thermopolis. Kenneth Dale Kowlok, 85, of Cody, Wyo., passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Ken was born in Gebo, Wyo., on March 5, 1936 to Rudolph and Evelyn Kowlok. He graduated from Thermopolis High School in 1954. In January of 1955 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served for 30 years and retired as a Master Chief Draftsman.
