The cross country team saw high placings again as they competed at the Powell Invite last Friday. It was also the conference meet for the middle school runners, and coach Stephanie Metz said the runners’ times were not where they anticipated but their placings were. On Saturday, the Thermopolis Middle School Bobcats took a 44-28 win against Greybull, capping off a perfect 7-0 season. Regarding Saturday's game, coach Shane Corpening said it was a pretty "back and forth" game, the biggest thing was for the players to pick themselves up as a team and ride through the low points while riding the momentum changes. As October moves on, it's hard not to think of Halloween and the decorations that come with it, many of which are pumpkin-based. Gene Peterson got a surprise when he planted pumpkins this year, putting down 12-20 plants and seeds in some manure he got from the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds. Carl Obe Dockery was born on Owl Creek in 1936 and raised there by parents Clifford and Edna.
