Friday afternoon, the Big Horn Basin Nature and Discovery Center Joint Powers Board hosted a public forum regarding the Children’s Nature Discovery Area of the center. This year, the Thermopolis Community Fund and People For People are bringing the Christmas Tree auction to the downtown area on Dec. 9. The tree auction, done through the community fund, had previously been at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center. On the same date, People for People will be hosting a series of decorated campers downtown rather than their typical Holiday Tour of Homes. Last Friday at about 5:11 p.m., there was a 4.2 magnitude earthquake about 39 miles east-southeast of Thermopolis. Monday in Hot Springs District Court, Ambra O’Brien pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. The charge stems from a July 1 incident, during which O’Brien was found to have Oxycodone. At the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees meeting on Oct. 24, the board approved moving ahead with a feasibility study for the planned renovation and expansion of the hospital. CEO Margie Molitor explained a feasibility study is required before any project seeking funding, and is a routine part of the process.
