Hot Springs County High School senior, Andrew Yarbrough, was recently named one of 615 students across the country that are recipients of the 2018 Horatio Alger State Scholarships. Tuesday night, Thermopolis Town Council heard quite a bit from Darren Butcher regarding an ordinance that would allow for people to have chickens in town. The Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire near Gebo Sunday at 1:35 p.m. Fire Chief Mark Collins said the department responded with four engines and a water tender, along with 14 personnel who were at the scene for over three hours. Monday in Hot Springs District Court, Scott D. Jackson pleaded guilty to fourth offense driving under the influence. The charge is from a June 9 incident. According to court documents, an officer was notified of an intoxicated driver. The officer observed the suspect not stopping at a stop sign and affected a traffic stop. Beginning April 2, a store that has been a familiar site for 10 years in Thermopolis will get a new name when Blair's Super Market becomes Mack's Market. During the regular meeting of Hot Springs Travel and Tourism, Director Amanda Moeller said Thermopolis will be home to the Wyoming Office of Tourism board meeting on Tuesday, April 17 at 8 a.m. She expects many of the members to stick around and attend the Travel and Tourism Board meeting, which is the same day. Main Street Thermopolis and Big Horn Federal are teaming up this year to clean up Thermopolis in recognition of Earth Day with the first Adopt-a-Block program. Volunteers are being recruited to clean one block (one side of the street) between April 1 and April 22, which is Earth Day.
