Though it was the Thermopolis Police Department that made the collar on Jeremy Breeden Friday afternoon, it really was a community effort that helped to capture the fugitive. Tuesday evening at the Thermopolis Town Council meeting, Travel and Tourism Director Amanda Moeller presented a report on how Hot Springs County did in 2017. The county saw 88,000 overnight visitors, which was a bit down from the 97,000 the previous year, Moeller said, a surprise considering the eclipse. This past week saw McKenna Bomengen winning a third place medal in the 3200 meters at the Wyoming Track Classic (WTC) in Casper. Coach Ernie Mecca explained simply qualifying for the WTC is a major accomplishment, as it means Bomengen is among the top 10 performers in all classes across the state. The charges stem from a March 22 incident, during which Munger allegedly assaulted a female subject. Those looking to catch some trout on the Big Horn River might have a slower go of it than they have in previous years. According to Wyoming Game and Fish Regional Fisheries Supervisor Sam Hochhalter, a survey of the Wedding of the Waters area, which includes from Wedding to Eighth Street, showed there were 1,100 trout per mile. In comparison, a 2016 survey showed 2,700 trout per mile. The drop in trout, Hochhalter explained, is due to poor survival of the stock fish and no natural recruitment...
