Hunter education graduates are invited to attend the third annual local Young Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) on Saturday, April 27 at the Bob Milek Memorial Range eight miles west of Thermopolis on Highway 120. Though the Hot Springs County High School track team was scheduled for back-to-back meets at Glenrock April 12 and Riverton April 13, the former was cancelled due to weather. The Thermopolis Middle School track season got underway with their first meet April 6 at Riverton. Hot Springs County High School senior Ethan Becher has been selected by Down Under Sports to represent Wyoming on the 2019 track and field team in Queensland, Australia July 6-15. The program also includes competition in football, cheer, cross country, golf, basketball, volleyball and soccer. Tuesday at the regular meeting of Hot Springs Travel and Tourism, Director Amanda Moeller reported that the lodging tax receipts are up 76 percent for this month compared to April 2018, a welcome change as February’s receipts were down 14 percent and March’s were down 41 percent compared to last year.
