    The Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce met briefly Thursday evening, prior to their Christmas party. Among the proceedings was the vote for the 2016 Business, Citizen and Non-Profit Organization, and Chamber Executive Director Meri Ann Rush noted they had a past president, Reg Filkey, participate in this year’s voting.     Last week, the Thermopolis High School boys basketball team dropped two games, taking on Worland at home Thursday and playing at Buffalo Friday.     The Thermopolis Middle School wrestling team hit the mats Saturday for their conference at Powell, taking 109.5 team points. Coach Toby Emery expressed congratulations to eighth grade wrestler Logan Cole, who won a third straight conference championship in the "A" division.     The JV and freshmen boys basketball teams took on Worland on their home court Thursday, and were at Buffalo Friday. Both teams struggled to find wins over the two-day stretch, with JV falling to Worland 63-45 and to Buffalo 63-33. The freshmen lost to Worland 65-42 and to Buffalo 44-35.     An appeal in a case against Anthony Haire is being taken under advisement in the Wyoming Supreme Court, with a written decision expected at a later date. Oral arguments have been heard by Supreme Court justices, as well as counsel for Haire and the State of Wyoming. Following a four-day trial in December 2015, Haire was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment.     Last weekend saw Thermopolis High School boys basketball action at home, taking on Wheatland Friday and Torrington Saturday. The Bobcats lost against both, falling 49-39 against Wheatland and 66-59 against Torrington. Coach Kevin Gerber said the boys played two really good games this weekend, and he was very proud of them.     The Bocats JV and freshmen teams met with some tough competition this weekend against Wheatland and Torrington. The JV lost 50-29 to Wheatland and 48-45 to Torrington, while the freshmen lost 50-33 against Wheatland and 46-31 against Torrington.     On Jan. 20 in the United States District Court of Wyoming, Darrel Demas, 27, and Justin Dvorak, 30, formerly of Thermopolis, were sentenced to prison terms for providing heroin which resulted in the death of Alexander Herdt in Thermopolis. According to court documents, Demas was sentenced to 48 months and Dvorak was sentenced to 24 months on individual charges of distribution of heroin resulting in death.
