Law enforcement, along with fire and emergency services responded to an accident Monday just before 5 p.m. on Owl Creek Road. A southbound truck driven by Jay Brown was travelling too fast and ran a stop sign, striking an eastbound hatchback sedan driven by Deana Sanchez, who was transported from the scene. A total 23 high school boys have been getting ready for their openers this weekend - six seniors, five juniors, four sophomores and eight freshmen. Jerome Dunks was sentenced to 2.5 to four years in the penitentiary for a felony of wrongful receiving, concealing or disposing of property. Hot Springs District Court Judge Robert E. Monday in Hot Springs District Court, Judge Robert E. Skar sentenced John Baker to a term of three to four years in the state penitentiary. However, that sentence was suspended on a split sentence, resulting instead of Baker’s sentence of one year in the county jail. The sentence is on a charge of felony endangering a child, and would be reduced should Baker attend an inpatient treatment program. About 90 boys are taking to the court Monday nights at Thermopolis Middle School, as part of the Hot Springs County Recreation Department's basketball season, which began Nov. 14. The annual Keys to the City promotion, which was slated to begin last month, is anticipated to begin Dec. 5. Tuesday, Nov. 15, the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees met. Among the items for action was the audit, presented by Michael Wright. The board approved the audit, and Interim CEO Margi Molitor noted there was nothing out of the ordinary with regard to the report and it was done to accounting standards. Last week, Hot Spring County High School seniors and Close-Up students Korey Smith and Caleb DeCroo travelled to Washington D.C. On their weeklong stay at the capitol, they spent some time with Senators Mike Enzi and John Barrasso. DeCroo said the experience was really cool, and he encourages other people to take the opportunity. He learned a lot about the symbolism of various monuments and why they were erected.
