    Though there were not enough Travel and Tourism board members present to constitute and quorum for an official meeting on Tuesday, Director Amanda Moeller presented some incredible numbers for lodging tax receipts. According to the information for the fiscal year 2017-18, receipts for last month were $15,997.24, a $4,891.05 or 44 percent increase over the receipts from the same time last year.     During their regular meeting on Aug. 10, the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce addressed vacancies on the board. There was no slate of nominees available to vote on to fill the vacant positions, and a motion was approved to give the nomination committee until Aug. 24 to submit a slate of names for nomination. The first motion approved was a lifting of the open container ordinance for Thermopolis Liquors.     Several people came out to support the county FFA and 4-H at the 2017 Junior Livestock Auction and Judges' Choice Bake Sale Friday night at the fairgrounds. The events saw a total of $103,963.60. The amount is down about $745 from last year. The total for baked goods sold was $5,225, with the high seller being Oakely Bowman with $550. The buyer was Road Runner Service & Supply.     According to Thermopolis Fire Chief Mark Collins, the number of fires in the area is pretty normal at this time, according to the five-year average, though these first couple weeks in August are typically the start of the wild land fire season.     Tuesday evening, Thermopolis Town Council approved the use of Bicentennial Park for vendors during Aug. 18, 19 and 20, the weekend before the eclipse.     A motion for a new trial in a case against Justin Spence was denied Monday in Hot Springs District Court. Spence was found guilty of incest on April 27, following a three-day trial. According to the charge, he molested a juvenile female on July 4 or 5, 2014.
