    A Bighorn Sheep wandered into Hot Springs State Park around 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1. A motorist reported the sheep came off the end of T-Hill, went across Highway 20 and then dropped over an embankment to the railroad tracks. He headed south along the tracks coming out near the Swinging Bridge then headed back north along the railroad tracks.     The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued a preliminary accident report detailing the circumstances of the crash of a two-person airplane in northern Wyoming on Dec. 7 that took the life of pilot Grant Belden of Thermopolis on his 34th birthday. Passenger Miles Hausner, of Worland, is reportedly in stable condition in a Billings, Mont. hospital.     by Lara Love The crash of a small aircraft in northern Wyoming claimed the life of Thermopolis pilot Grant Belden, 34, Wednesday, Dec. 7. Belden was a pilot and wildlife specialist employed through the State of Wyoming Wildlife Services. They operate under the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).     The Bureau of Land Management Worland Field Office has issued a decision authorizing the expansion of a bentonite mining project in Hot Springs County. Wyo-Ben, Inc. plans to extend bentonite mining operations and concurrent reclamation of their 108T project located approximately 5 miles northwest of Thermopolis. The mine plan is a progression of the existing 108T project, extending onto adjacent public lands totaling 376 acres. The expected life of mine and concurrent reclamation is 15 years.... Full story

    Community members packed into the VFW Saturday evening for the dinner and auction which raised over $22,000 to benefit Shannon Myers. One of the many highlights of the night was when a saw, hand painted by Cindy Clancy, was purchased by Joe Arnold for $1,025. He donated the saw back to be auctioned off again.     Unofficial results are in, and Hot Springs County voters passed both of the two propositions concerning Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Tuesday’s general election. On the proposition to form a special hospital district there were 1,688 votes in favor and 890 votes against. On the proposition for the creation of a one percent specific purpose sales and use excise tax there were 1,643 votes for and 947 votes against.
