In the Friday contests, both the varsity and JV teams put up impressive wins against Glenrock, topping their opponents by scores of 64 to 42 and 52 to 34, respectively. The Hot Springs County High School Bobcats Wrestling Team went to Greybull for a dual last Thursday and came away with a win, scoring 57 to 21, despite being hindered by illness and injury. Colter Price put up a win in the 132 pound class against a tough opponent, and Mason Reese came away with a first-time win against a wrestler he had faced before, but hadn’t managed to beat. The Lady Cats JV team played three games over the course of as many days last week, ending 2 and 1 for their effort. The Hot Springs County High School Bobcats and Lady Bobcats Wrestling Teams kicked off their seasons at the Powell Invitational Tournament last Thursday and Friday. There were twenty-two schools competing in the event, from both Wyoming and Montana. Hot Springs County High School hosted a Wyoming Academic Challenge (WAC) Meet on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Thermopolis Middle School. Eight schools were in attendance, with a total of 13 teams competing in the event. The WAC conducts a series of academic challenge meets throughout the state, which are designed to allow high schools to compete in a regular season of events, culminating in a state tournament. The Thermopolis Bobcat varsity football team finished their season in fifth place in the 2A West Division. The Cats went 2 and 4 in the conference standings, with a 2 and 7 overall record. The top four teams from the East and West Divisions were elevated to the class 2A quarter-finals of the state playoffs. The Thermopolis Bobcats traveled to Cokeville last Friday for a game against the second place Panthers. With an early morning travel schedule, and after a nearly five hour bus ride, the Cats rolled into the western part of the state, and arrived in the town of Cokeville.
