    Hot Springs County was extremely lucky the fire at the Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center a couple of weeks ago not only put itself out, but was contained to the kitchen area. As it is, the museum is expected to remain closed for approximately three more weeks as the clean up continues. Varney Clean Care has been at the museum every day since the fire, extracting the water from the carpeting, using ion blowers in an attempt to eliminate the smoke smell and painting and repairing....

    The Hot Springs County Commissioners had a relatively short meeting on Tuesday afternoon and signed a new letter of engagement with Koerwitz, Michel, Wright and Associates for accounting services for the coming year.     A case that has been going on for over a year in District Court finally came to a conclusion on Monday as Lola Vialpando was sentenced to one year in county jail and 10 years of supervised probation by judge Robert Skar. Vialpando was charged with 21 felony counts of forgery, theft and larceny along with two misdemeanor counts of larceny in November of 2016.     Although the official cause of the fire last Friday morning at the Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center has not been released by fire authorities, the commissioners heard some of the details of the fire from maintenance supervisor Anthony Fruciano.
