  • Temperatures are all over the place

    Cindy Glasson, Reporter Photographer|Sep 27, 2018

We have hit that time of year when some days it feels as if Mother Nature is having some kind of psychotic episode – freezing in the morning and roasting in the afternoon. That’s the wonderful thing about Wyoming. It also makes it difficult to decide what to wear for the day, whether its sweater and boots weather in the morning or jeans and a t-shirt in the afternoon. I’ve lived in a few places in my life and it seems like the contents of my closet have been different everywhere I’ve been. F...

Although they dropped both matches in three games, coach Shannon Hill said she saw a lot of positives coming off the weekend. "We focused a lot of our practices this week on serve/receive, therefore we struggled a little bit with our offense," she said. "Our unforced errors were what lost this match (Buffalo) for us. "We are very evenly matched with Buffalo, but could never...

The drill, which started shortly after 9 a.m., was the reconstruction of a wreck that included a semi-truck carrying guthion, a nerve agent used in pesticides with similar properties to the deadly serin compound. Volunteer actors, including nine students from the high school drama club and four adults, portrayed victims in several...

  • Additional building concerns

    Cindy Glasson, Reporter Photographer|Sep 20, 2018

Although work is progressing well on the roof of the multipurpose building at Hot Springs County Fairgrounds, a change order has arisen that will help with the overall look of the inside of the building. While doing the spray in insulation, WYO Spray Coatings noted the steel beams inside the building, while structurally sound, look pretty rough on the surface, especially when compared to the newness of the insulation. The company has offered to spray paint the beams for an additional $10,000 to...

  • TMS volleyball players getting more comfortable

    Cindy Glasson, Reporter Photographer|Sep 20, 2018

Thermopolis Middle School volleyball teams had their ups and downs this past week according to head coach Aimee Kay. The teams are playing well and Kay said the girls are getting more comfortable with running the 5-1 line and switching from offense to defense, but there is still room for improvement. Last week they were introduced to hitting defense and Kay is starting to see the girls get where they need to be when they need to be there. Their serves are improving, too, but they are still the...

  • It's about having fun

    Cindy Glasson, Reporter Photographer|Sep 13, 2018

One of my favorite times of the year is here...football season! Although I love sitting on Sunday and watching my Broncos, I’m really talking about all the youth football we have around here. This last weekend was so fun. I had the chance to shoot the little guys playing rec football as well as the older kids with the middle school and the high school athletes on Friday night. It really gave me a perspective on how the game is played. The rec kids are having so much fun, learning as they go, a...

If you are looking for another choice for Wyoming’s Governor, Rex Rammell may fit the ticket. Rammell will be on the ballot in November under the Consitution Party. The vultures started in the trees at the Pioneer Home where they have been a nuisance all summer. Tuesday morning they flew to the trees near the water tower and crews used 'crackers', a large bottle rocket type device shot from a gun. One of the rounds unfortunately went straight up and straight down, causing the grass fire. John Fish, firefighter and...

    Cindy Glasson|Sep 6, 2018

We’ve been hearing a lot lately from Main Street Thermopolis and the Chamber of Commerce about something called “Placemaking,” but what is it, really? Placemaking is the idea of reimagining and reinventing public spaces as the heart of the community. Its a way for folks in town to work collaboratively toward defining the town’s identity. Actually, its not a new idea. While it gained ground in the mid-90s, it really started in the 60s with the focus on designing cities around people, not just par...
