    The Big Horn Basin Riders are planning another great 4th of July Freedom Run in Thermopolis and Hot Springs County with fun for everyone. Things kick off Friday, July 3rd with a meet and greet at the armory at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the music, drinks and bonfire scheduled for that evening.   • Chamber approves rate hike

    The Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce approved the first raise to their membership rates since 2011 at their meeting last Thursday evening. The base membership rate for non-profit organizations and non-profit clubs without staff increased by $10 while businesses went up $20. The chamber has not kept up with inflation over the past few years, which has been about three percent. Rather than trying to catch up now, they determined raising it by just one percent would be less of a shock....

    The Hot Spot Jr. Livestock show was held at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds last Friday afternoon, bringing in youth from the surrounding area for a chance to win some big money for their animals.     A mystery was solved Tuesday morning after possible graffiti was reported on some rocks in Hot Springs State Park. What looked like blue paint was found in several areas of rock near the entrance to the buffalo pasture from Warm Springs Road.     After weeks of fundraising, the "Pretty Little DI'ers" made their way to Knoxville, Tenn. to participate in the Destination Imagination Global Finals on May 19. More than 15,000 people attended the event including more than 1,100 teams from 45 states, seven Canadian provinces and 13 countries.     County Assessor, Shelley Deromedi, has released updated estimates on the values of Hot Springs County. Final figures will not be available until next week after the final hearing of assessment. Deromedi figures the current local assessment at $50,592,682, but the final figure will not be available until June 15. Final assessment on state assessed utilities is $5,783,687.     The first home in the Crimson View subdivision was placed on Monday via a crane from JMS Crane and Rigging out of Billings. The home was brought to Thermopolis in three pieces on semi trucks, then each piece was carefully lifted from the truck and placed on the full-basement foundation and secured in place.     Everyone loves a parade! The first parade of the summer will be for the Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous Rodeo on Saturday, June 27.     The Hot Springs County Commissioners signed a proclamation on Tuesday afternoon naming the road into the new airport “Manning Road,” after late commissioner Frank Manning.
